It’s National Avocado Day on the 31st of July 2021. It’s a great day to enjoy the benefits of this superfood, and we’re sharing our favourite avocado recipes with you to indulge in and celebrate the day.
Why is an Avocado a Superfood?
Avocados are packed with good stuff. The term ‘superfood’ is used when a food has a high level of antioxidants, known to fight disease, along with a high nutrient density. It’s believed that a diet high in superfoods will improve overall health. Avocados are rich in fibre, vitamin E, vitamin B6, vitamin C, folate, monounsaturated fats and more. Avocados are also high in valuable minerals like magnesium and potassium, which helps keep blood pressure healthy. Monounsaturated fats can help to lower levels of bad LDL cholesterol. These benefits are a great reason to go forth and enjoy one of these flavourful avocado recipes. (As well as the fact they are absolutely delicious, of course.)
